Woo hooo! Yesterday a friend traded us some rails for a module so now I’ve got a set of 4 rails I can use to start putting a case together. The rails can be added to any case that’s big enough, but they have specially machiened holes drilled and threaded for metric screws. Joy right? Yeah safe to say that metric screws are not the easiest thing to find in the US because well, anything that’s metric isn’t found in large supply. Why? I can’t say really. The US is just stubborn I guess.

You’ll also see that I’ve got 5 modules behind the rails. There are 3 Plague Bearers there, one Choices and a V’amp. The Plague Bearers are fun little filter modules that can even generate their own happy little sounds. The Choices modules is a stupid fun joystick controller module. I got to play with it over the weekend and it was a blast. The V’amp is a module I’ll have to dink with some to understand a little bit better, but  it is designed to be an amplifier.

Honestly I really can’t wait to get all 3 Plague Bearers into one box and see what kind of havoc I can wreak with those. I’ve seen quite a few of these things built and tested, so it’ll be fun to be able to see what they can do when they’re off the testing bench.

Really I’ve been up to my eyeballs in the Synth world for a few years now, but for the most part it’s just been going on all around me and I haven’t been participating. Until recently I really hadn’t had a chance to get some hands on experience with the devices I’ve seen built for so long. That and I didn’t really know what to do with them either. But I’ve been dinking around with the software version of the same stuff off and on here and there for some time now.

I also still have the voice changer circuit on a breadboard. Since it’s the first thing I’ve ever put on a bread board I’m not going to get a picture of it. Right now it looks like a fruit loops nightmare. So fare I’ve only got a few pieces left to get into the circuit and then muah haha, testing time. I’m just waiting to see if I blow something out. Once that’s done I’ll be able to plot out what bits to get to fit it and a speaker and microphone into my gas mask. Hmm yeah all the fun little details right?

I feel your pain with the whole metric vs. US standard.

I don’t really know much about analog synth but I would definitely be interested in hearing what you can do with all that equipment!
