Fallen Earth – Ding 50

By Date

Ding 50

Well it was a big night in the Dreadnoks. We had 3 members (including myself) hit 50 last night. Grats to Beroya Valin and Jason Vader.

After hitting 50 we went back to New Flag just to celebrate and almost got into a tussle with Enforcers. Probably should have just fought it out but meh.

Something better came up and I spent the night working with some Outlanders and one T.A.O to farm some Volitile chemicals.

I managed to roll on one of them. I need 3 more to upgrade my current suit to the Volitile version. That can be dyed so I can run around as a green machine. Woot.

Yes I have a thing for green.

I also really need to farm up some chips for the rest of my re-spec and mutations as well as get those rallies in. I’ll actually only need 66 of them to make up the 131 AP I’m missing for the build I want.

Ok yeah that AND complete some faction missions or hit up Office Park to get some CHOTA faction. Right now I’m still sitting at Traveler because my damn Traveler faction is so high. Bleh.

The good news is that aside from farming chips, I’ve got some great friends that’ll help me out with this stuff. That really makes the whole game worthwhile.

Yeah I know they want to add more group content to Fallen Earth to make it more “group friendly” but forcing people to group up is just a recipe for disaster sometimes.

Personally I like the idea of grouping up because I WANT to and because I like the guys I’m grouping up with. But that’s just my two chips take it or leave it.

Fallen Earth – Almost Capped

By Date

Kyoten Climbing to the Sky

Believe it or not I’m now level 48. Just two more levels and I’m at the level 50 cap for Fallen Earth.

Hell I might even have a spec worked out before Alpha County lands and borks my build.

Am I super pissed about that? Hell no.

I’ve played MMO’s long enough to know just what that disclaimer “Online play is subject to change” really means. If an MMO isn’t changing, it’s dying. That’s the last thing I want to see happen to Fallen Earth.

I look at it this way. If fewer actions make it easier for the developers to balance abilities on the back end AND make it cheaper/easier for people to get a grasp on them, then it’s not all bad.

Granted I do like the current combat system now that I’ve got a handle on it, but hey you gotta roll with the times.

As it stands now though I’m a crap load of AP away from getting my Crafter’s Alternative Melee build together. Once I’m done though I’ll have heal support from First Aid and Empathy as well as damage mitigation support from Telekinesis. I’ll have some melee buffs from Primal and I’ll have a snare in Telekinesis.

It’s not going to be cheap and easy to put together but I think it will suit my play style. I also won’t lose crafting which makes me a very happy Creep.

I LOVE the crafting in Fallen Earth. It’s positively addictive.

Right now though the real hurdle for my build is AP and cash. I have some points in all the wrong places and it’s gonna be a bugger to get them worked out. I’ll also have to drop Telepathy in exchange for Primal and Telekenisis.

That’s going to mean grinding for chips. Bleh. Not a ton of fun but it’ll be worth it. I calculated that I’d have to make about 70 Red chips to complete my re-spec. Since I’ve already got a good portion of that down I’m only looking at 50 Red now to complete the change.

I’m also short AP since I decided to go grinding instead of questing. After years of playing MMO’s I’m so bored with quests that I could gouge my eyes out with a fork.

It’s not that I don’t mind helping a random NPC get his tool kit so that he can finish working on whatever dohicking he was working on, it’s just that it seems like such a waste of time.

Instead of running out all over hell and gone I spend a few hours just strait up killing npcs and poof I have a level.

So much more efficient.

Yes it’s also really effing boring so I’m not recommending it to everyone. For me it’s not so bad because I have a great crew that’s keeping me going. As I mentioned in my last post I’ve made some great friends in Fallen earth and they take the edge off the grind. Without that kind of support I doubt I would have made it past level 25.

My next build hurdle though is AP. As it stands I’m going to be short some AP since I didn’t grind out AP missions. Fortunately Icarus added “Rallies” when they included the Terminal Woods patch.

Rallies reward you with AP after blowing some gas running a timed track. So instead of wandering through the wastes looking for AP quests I can just do some Rallies to help boost my AP.

So it looks like I’ll be doing over 80 Rallies to get enough AP to complete my build. That’s a LOT of gas. It’s also a LOT of time. Meh that’s what I get for grinding.

To have a solid build though will make the whole thing worth it. Even if I only have a solid build for a couple of days before things get blown out by the new combat system.

Any who I’m pretty freaking excited! This will be the first time I’ve level capped since Guild Wars. Even after all the time I’ve spent in WoW I never bothered to hit the level cap. It just never seemed to be worth it.

In Fallen Earth I can see that there’s gonna be so much for me to accomplish once I hit 50 that I’m actually excited to do so. Pretty crazy huh?

Well until next time I’m gonna be grinding it out in the wastes.

The Skull and Starburst Hat!!

I want to thank Mr Hateful for snagging the Skull and Starburst hat for me. I still have no real idea where to pick it up in game and I’ve wanted one for months. They’re not cheap on the AH either I can tell you that much.

Also thanks to my buddy Beroya who even helped get the colors right (Green and Grey Geisty’s color scheme).

I’ve got to say that I’ve made some of the best and closest friends ever in this game and I’m so glad I picked it back up again.

Thanks Icarus for making FE the awesome game it is, and thanks to the players of FE that make it one of the best games I’ve ever played.

Fallen Earth – A Question of Loyalty RP Story Arc

Geistig and Beroya Valin

As I mentioned in my last post I’d been writing up a storm over at the Fallen Earth RP Haven website. A lot of what I’ve been writing involves a kidnapping story line instigated by one of my clan members and what happened when “Feisty Geisty” (that’s me) managed to find herself in the middle of it.

If you’re really bored and want a read with some dirty language check out the full list of tales here A Question of Loyalty Story Arc.

Fallen Earth – Getting My Write On

Beroya and Geistig chillin in Deadfall

I’m still hanging out in Fallen Earth and having a blast.

I know I haven’t been posting here as often as I should, but I’ve been working on some creative writing pieces for the Fallen Earth Roleplayer’s Haven website.

It’s been a lot of fun getting some creative writing in as well as a great way to add to the community as a whole.

This way folks are able to see what kind of RP is going on around the wastelands. Otherwise a lot of things aren’t written up and no one really knows what RP is going on and or where it’s happening.

If you want something to read check it out. I use some pretty harsh language in my posts though so readers be warned.

I’ve thought about cross posting some of that content here. Mostly because it’ll give me an excuse to use some of the screen shots I have stored up. Not sure if I will or not, but it’s an idea.

Well until next time me and the Dreadnoks will be stirring up shit in the wastelands.

Fallen Earth – PTS and Ding 45

By Date

It’s been a pretty busy week for me, as you can tell by the lack of posts. I have however hit level 45 and had a chance to spend some quality time on the Fallen Earth Public Test server.

Right now I kind of like the direction they’re heading with regards to removing some frustrating skills while streamlining others. While it will take me some time to get used to the new skills sets and mutations, I like the fact that there seemed to be fewer things I had to figure out. It also makes it a lot easier to figure out which skills compliment each other on the fly.

I will post more on this later, for now I need to pass out. I am however excited that I’m now 5 levels away from being level capped, and I have 2 combat dune buggies in the works.

I love my clan by the way the Dreadnoks and I’m still very much enjoying playing Fallen Earth. Though I am bummed that I missed out on all the fun hopping into Rift with my friends. I can’t say I regret the decision, the community I’ve found in Fallen Earth has really made the whole experience worthwhile. Hell even the ass hats are interesting.

Until next time I’m going to be getting lost in the wastes.

Fallen Earth – PvP Training and a Ride to Park City

By Date

Well I know, long time no post. I’ve been working my ass off in game lately to get to level 50 and figure out how to PvP effectively.

After getting hacked to pieces last week I figured it was time to take a look at things objectively and figure out what I need to do. I’m contemplating my build and figuring out just what I want to end up with.

Fortunately for my clan, Missbee Haven was willing to give us a little Fallen Earth PvP training camp. As he said in the “Post Your Builds” post in the official forums, he’s willing to help people learn more about PvP. There is a steep learning curve to FE. There’s a lot of things that aren’t intuitive or super well described in game. Getting some tips from folks who PvP a lot and who have been in the PvP scene for a while, really helps you to get a grip on things.

Of course a lot of the advice is geared for level capped toons. But hey I figure I’ll get there soon enough.

I’m still not positive on which build I want to go with. I know that I don’t want to lose Empathy. That is one of the few mutations I have that I use frequently and love dearly. I also want to keep my Medic abilities. I’m just not sure how to keep those two and keep myself alive and/or do some damage.

So far I like the Crafter PvP Build Alternative – This one uses the Pale Horse and Sharing the Light Capstones, while I don’t think that as a traveler I can get my hands on Storm of Steel as I think that is a Lightbearer Capstone.

Though I’m not sure that I want to use Telekinesis. I hadn’t found it super useful and recently wiped it. I guess I’ll wipe Telepathy instead and start over again. Sheesh.

Right now I am starting to feel a bit of overwhelm. It’s going to cost some serious chips to re-spec and to buy up the skills/mutations I’ll need to make any build effective. That and just the time it’ll take to get used to using it. Time is NOT on my side right now. Since we’re going up against the Bronze pretty regularly and now we might be doing a little battle with Invicta as well.

I’m trying hard not to get frustrated and just let things happen. The re-spec injectors for levels 40 to 49 (?) cost almost 2 red a pop. I also have to update my skills and my mutations. Then I have to figure out how to use them all.

What fun huh?

Fortunately my clan is behind me. That really makes all the difference in the world. Yeah I’ll probably end up getting rofl stomped, but with this crew behind me I’m able to laugh off anything.

I am finally level 41. Just 9 more to level 50. Can you believe that? I’m almost level capped in an MMO!

While I want to do a write up on creating effective builds in Fallen Earth, it’ll all be pointless when the new combat changes go live. I guess now I’ll wait to see if the revisions to the combat changes mentioned in the May State of the Game stick. I’ll still probably work with some of the more experienced folks in PvP to get a good write up on some specs and spec alternatives so I’ll have a handy resource for myself and others to turn to.

Until next time I’ll be grinding away in the wastes.

Fallen Earth – Progress Towns and Combat Changes

By Date

CHOTA Customer Service

It looks like I’ll get to use the Fallen Earth PTS again here real soon. This Thursday the Progress Towns and the revised combat changes are due to hit the PTS. You can find more info about it here at the May State of the Game.

Of course this comes at a time where I’m fighting to 50 and debating on what my PvP build will be.

Thanks guys!

I’m not bitter I promise. An MMO that is pumping out new content and/or making changes, is an MMO that’s still breathing. While Fallen Earth may be growing at a slow and steady pace, changes are still taking place and new content is still popping into the game.

Sure to me new content doesn’t mean a whole hell of a lot. For me almost all of the content is new.

Really I can’t wait to see what things look like on the PTS and I really hope that the combat changes are ready for prime time. I’m sure that it’ll bring some fight back to the PvP scene which is always a good thing.

The Progress towns will also be a nice add for the RP community. This will give them the opportunity to “build” their own little towns using the construction trade skill. It will also give them the opportunity to “defend” those towns from invading raider NPC’s.

I’m really going to have to see how this plays out on the PTS. From the description it seems like a non-factional PVE game addition. Which means that it’s not a “build your own” conflict town.

So Wednesday I’ll be hitting the PTS and checking this fun stuff out. Until then I’ll be grinding away in the wastes.
